Easy Win.... hmmmm?

Hey All;

The Lady Wildcats did their thing last night and overpowered the visiting team with a win by, mmmm, about 50 points, I think. It was a nice effort with alot of individual play that resulted in 25% from the floor in the first half and about 32% in the second half.

We had a great locker room discussion prompted by Coach Ellis' word for the day; Accountability. I believe his focus is on the remaining games up to the Regional Tournament and, then, into the State Tournament.

What is Accountability? The dictionary definition is; "the state of being accountable, liable or answerable". I defined it as being responsible, but if it's not accomplished, and you were accountable, you would be punished. I like answerable better, lol.

As I thought about that from a Faith and sports perspective, I realized that it might apply to the individual and the team. We are, of course, accountable to God for our Faith and our private lives as well as our decisions and actions. We are accountable to our parents. We are accountable to our studies, our friends and.... our teammates. In basketball, we are accountable to do our job, to be ready to play, to know the system, the schemes, the opposing team and players and to ..... our teammates. Our teammates are accountable to us in the same way.

What does that mean??

Romans 12

Living Sacrifices

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers (sisters), in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship (Accountability).

2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.

4 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,

5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.

We are all accountable for the gifts given us and how the use of those gifts contribute to the whole of the body of Christ and, in regard to our team effort for the rest of the season, accountable to our teammates to be ready to play and play as a team!!

Amen

Coach Bill
